The Scottish Government introduced new standards for fire and smoke alarms in all homes from February 2022.
Scottish legislation has changed. Introduced in February 2019, the change applies to all households in Scotland and should be in place by February 2022. The new Scottish legislation states that an interlinked Fire and Smoke alarm system must be fitted in a property and that there should be adequate Carbon Monoxide protection.
This legislative change to the Tolerable Standard has come as a direct result of recent fire tragedies and covers all homes, both in the private and social housing sectors.
From February 2022 all homes should now have the following:
- Smoke alarms in every circulation space on each storey, such as hallways and landings
- Smoke alarms installed in the room most frequently used for general daytime living purpose
- Heat alarms installed in every kitchen
- All smoke and heat alarms should be interlinked and ceiling-mounted
- Carbon monoxide alarms to be fitted where there is a fuel burning appliance or a flue

Wired or Wireless
Our alarms can be hard wired or interconnected wirelessly. They also include a 10-year lithium battery so once installed you don’t need to worry about them for a long time.

Multi-Sensor Alarm
Our smoke alarms have different sensors to detect different fire types. Its combination of heat and an optical sensor means that it can detect all fire types.

Data Extraction
You can extract real-time data from the alarm using via an app on your smartphone or tablet. Displaying details such as activation dates, sensor status, and alarm life.

Dust Contamination
The alarms optical sensor chamber continually self-monitors minute changes in dust levels. If the dust accumulates to a certain level, the alarm automatically recalibrates the alarm trigger point.
